This is your brain. This is your perception. This is your brain on perception. Your brain is a very dutiful instrument. It wires ideas, perceptions and chronic thoughts into behaviors, habits and possibilities – or the lack thereof – without questioning the impact of the wired information. This process is both the bane of your existence and the possibility for its freedom. The existential question for your identity is, “Am I more than what has happened to me?” The answer to this question is a resounding, ‘Yes!” Because of the neutrality of that organ called your brain it will, theoretically speaking, wire any perception that is imported. And because of that very neutrality the brain will rewire – connect the neurons that form thoughts – to reflect a different reality just as it has wired the perceptions of the present reality of your experience. This is why my constant refrain, “you are more than what has happened to you,” becomes the clarion call for greater well-being, abundance, fulfillment and possibility. For far too long “think positive” has become either a fleeting, weak admonition to combat negative experiences and doubt, or has been reduced to a proposition to make something good magically happen. The latter proposition is akin to rubbing to sticks together and expecting fire simply from the action itself without the understanding that it is the friction created from the rubbing that triggers the combustion that results in fire. Hence, this awareness impacts how the action is engaged for success. Many an individual valiantly – and desperately at times – engage positive thoughts and belief systems from that same fire analogy parallel – without comprehending the premise and principle of the rewiring concept. You can idly rub two sticks together ‘till the cows come home and wind up going hungry or freezing. You can “think positive” without understanding the point of it and find yourself continuing to hunger for better conditions in your life or freezing out greater fulfillment. As you recognize and appreciate the capability of this wondrous organ called the brain and its capacity to rewire at any time thoughts, ideas and possibilities that reflect greater living, you indeed ignite the creative combustion that fires up expanded fulfillment. It is an act of supreme dominion to recognize that what your brain has haphazardly and unwittingly absorbed about yourself and life can be rewired for expanded possibility, confidence and self-expression. You are not what has happened to you. You are the means of importing the permission and license to “think positive” as a means of rewiring the brain to accept greater possibilities rather than as superfluous incantations to make something happen. This spiritual maturity enables you to work smarter rather than harder. You find that you are no longer combating doubt and negative thoughts because you cease believing in the absoluteness of their nature as negative thoughts are increasingly seen merely as “wired data”. In effect, you cease taking your negative thinking so personally! This is the first step towards emancipated living; realizing all negativity (anything that negates your possibility) is nothing more than wired programming that can be rewired! Is the rewiring a process? Indeed. Must it be arduous and labored? Not when you remove the validating belief that a thought is more than wired data. What creates power in “wired data” is the belief invested in it either intensely or over time; withdraw belief in prohibitive thinking and invest the power of belief (validation) in the thoughts and ideas of expanded, greater living and, in effect, turn the tide of your fortune – literally and figuratively. You are more than what has happened to you. Exercise the dominion of the power to rewire. This is your brain. This is love. This is your brain on love.
