Unlocking Tranquility: The Power of Silence in a Noisy World

Want a significant key to living at peace during the whirlwind of world chaos and personal overload? Recognize Power Silence! What is Power Silence? It’s not shutting the world off but recognizing the profoundness of silence in the midst of it. Think about it: whenever noise or sound ceases, you immediately witness the silence. It doesn’t matter where you are on the planet, when noise ceases – you detect the silence.

This means that silence is present during sound and activity – no matter what the sound activity is depicting or reflecting; happy sounds or traumatic sounds, silence is present at all times in the midst of it. This reality is the key to your peace of mind.

Finding Tranquility Amidst Internal Noise

When silence isn’t taken for granted or associated with the uncomfortableness of focusing on one’s judgmental and fearful thoughts and therefore avoided at all costs, silence can be an anchoring presence of tranquility.

Unfortunately, in a sensory overload world, brains have become wired to a constant feed of kinetic stimuli and when not supplied by the environment we generate it through our own thoughts as the source of frenetic internal noise.

POWER SILENCE

Take a deep breath. Here’s how you discover the potency of silence and its contribution to your well-being:

  1. Intentionally decide to engage activities (cooking, cleaning, driving solo, working on computer, exercising at home, reading, phone surfing, etc.) without background sounds – of music, podcast, or TV. You are not seeking to ban sound from your living, you are just increasingly integrating activity free of background sound.
  2. Change your relationship to silence. Instead of the brain-mind relating to silence as an opportunity to dwell on narrative thoughts about your life (i.e. loneliness, regrets, judgements, memories, work, ruminating, etc.) actually pay attention to the “presence” of silence. Detect its texture, its weight, its “silent-ness” – objectifying silence in this manner enables the brain-mind to deprogram from wired acclimation of sensory stimuli overload.
  3. Recognize that silence represents the “ok-ness” of your being; the reason silence is silent is because it is undisturbed by our superimposed ideas, thoughts, and perceptual narratives that fuel their nature of dysfunction in experience.
  4. Recognize during your intentional silent episodes that it indicates total self-acceptance. The silence isn’t complaining about you, interfering with you, judging you or expecting anything from you. Its constant, ever-present reality means you are always absolutely supported as the silence will never abandon you due to its irrevocable presence.
  5. Eventually, you’ll develop the awareness to detect silence in the midst of sound and activity. This is peace taking precedence in your life.

Be still and know… that Silence is present.
